I got my MFA when I was 29 ...Lots of thoughts here. I got my MFA when I was 29 years old, thinking it would get me a job as an art professor.....those jobs are pretty rare. It did allow me to put my art at the top of my priority list for 2 years which was good. But in the end, it was still me, all by myself, having to find my own way. <br /><br />You don't need an MFA to be an artist, and having one doesn't make you an artist either. I decided a long time ago that anyone can be an artist, just by BEING an artist! Like the Nike ad, "Just do it!" You're doing it.<br /><br />I have learned a lot from single classes, like a watercolor class at the community college with an awesome painter/teacher.
