Many people use old picture frames, etc. Of course the experience is much better with better equipment. The Archie Brennan looms aren't that difficult to make, but you have to pick the shed unless you make a shedding device. Do you have a floor loom of any kind available to you? I weave all my tapestry except workshop pieces on a floor loom and prefer it. Some jack looms don't work well for tapestry because when you increase the tension the shafts lift. But many work just fine.<br />Rebecca Mezoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16138972934775842473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-71232803753868616.post-48730643359808717942012-09-13T12:31:40.106-06:002012-09-13T12:31:40.106-06:00Brrrr. I appreciated your post on looms - any thoughts on the Schact frame? I am going to teach myself since there are no teachers nearby, and I have to decide on a loom. I don't know if I should start with a mirrix, or the Schacht, until I'm committed. (I love the results I see from others, but will I love the process.) Thanks for all the inspiration.Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12308936425009794278noreply@blogger.com
